PCB might look into this regional league due to its financial issues

KPL season three is expected later this year - KPL

Top match officials, who served during the second season of the Kashmir Premier League (KPL), are waiting for their dues to be cleared.

As reported by a local newspaper, top umpires and matches referees, including ICC panelists Aleem Dar and Ahsan Raza, await KPL season 2 dues.

After getting No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), KPL was first launched in 2021. The league was set up to provide ample opportunities to the youngsters of Azad and Jammu Kashmir.

However, the league has remained controversial due to payment issues. As reported, the due amount for the second season is around PKR3 million.

“We are still in negotiations with the organisers but they keep asking us to wait ‘for some more time’," a match official told the publication.

With KPL's season three around the corner, PCB might look into this regional league due to its financial issues.

On the other hand, a KPL official assured that the dues will be cleared before the third season.

"We incurred heavy losses due to several matches being washed out during the second season. But, the dues will be cleared soon," the official was quoted saying.
